The music clip “Sonne” by Rammstein has a lot of similarities to the “Snow White” fairytales we have read for class, yet it is still much different from the actual tale we have read (and the music clip it's a lot creepier in my opinion). The music clip is basically a modern adaptation of the German tale we learned about, which is the Brothers Grimm version of Snow White. In the clip the band members are all acting as if they’re mining gold for a woman.

The woman looks awfully familiar to our beloved Snow White that we have learned about in the fairytales, and her dress strongly resembles the Disney version of Snow Whites dress. However, there is a twist on the Brothers Grimm tale in the music clip. The band members are acting as if they’re dwarves mining this gold for Snow White which, didn’t happen in the fairytale...but we could imagine that the seven dwarves would perform any task for their beautiful Snow White. The other twist is that Snow White is a drug addict, which becomes her fate...

Just like in the fairytale, in the music clip Snow White is carried to the top of a mountain by the dwarves when she dies (due to an overdose, not a poisonous apple from her step-mother). One ironic thing about the music clip is that an apple brings Snow White back to life when it falls on her bier, whereas in the fairy tales we have read, an apple is usually Snow White “final” death until the prince comes. I enjoyed the fairytales we have read more than this music clip, because I think this music clip was dark. Overall, the clip is basically a modern adaptation of Snow White, but the adaptation has to do with drug addiction and is much darker and might not be suitable for children.
